Vrutti takes a holistic view of development, and aims to affect change from the grass-roots level to the policy-level. Vrutti has placed itself in a very advantageous position. It is able to gather evidences that shape policies. It is also able to determine the needs of an extensive number of families and households. Vrutti also recognises that policies play an integral role in affecting sustainable change. Weak and ineffective policies are not helpful.
Some examples of Vrutti's work at the national-level include:
- Vrutti is engaging with the planning commission MP to look at agriculture systems as extension through demand based BDS provision.
- Vrutti has been part of consultation on rainfed agriculture by President of India initiative, Council of Governors, as part of civil society
- Vrutti participated in a discussion with the Department of Horticulture, Govt. of Karnataka, on formulating two national-level schemes to support the Farmer producer organisations
